Grey Mist is a strain purportedly grown by the coffee shop, Grey Area, in Amsterdam in the Netherlands. It’s among many coffee shop strains that hail from there, including the Matanuska breeding line and its headliner, Matanuska Mist. Grey Mist is a genetic cross between Power Plant and Shiva. Its parents gave it the power to make its users happy, tingly, and hungry. The Grey Mist strain grows in light green nugs that come in dense, covered in a light amber dust of crystal trichomes (they almost look like sand), broken up by plump pistils. The strain shines white or even grey in the direct light, which may be where it gets its name. Within these mint-green beauties is a compact dose of three terpenes: limonene and caryophyllene in almost equal amounts and then ocimene. From them, Grey Mist gets its wildly varied flavor, which goes from chemmy and herbal to sour and fruity, with a scent like fresh oats and earth.
We want to focus on the flavor because it contains so many layers of individual sensations. At the onset, the strain has a light, almost vanilla flavor, with undertones of spiciness and even leather. You may be able to detect coffee, wood, rose, orange, and lavender flavors. It progresses in its spiciness, developing chemical aftertastes and becoming hot in your mouth (that’s the Shiva coming through). The exhale keeps pounding that spicy-herbal sensation.
As for the strain’s effects, you can expect to feel tingly at the onset. As you smoke, you’ll feel more relaxed, uplifted, and willing to giggle at the slightest thing. Users report being really snacky, talkative, and ready to explode with creativity, at least for a while. After that, Grey Mist is known for laying on a fog of sedation, so be prepared for that up and down feeling.
The strain’s THC level sits around 14% on average and it retains quite a lot of CBD, almost 5% according to some labs. The strain should be ready for harvest in around 67 days and grows the same height whether you keep it in a greenhouse or outside (around 70 inches).
